Just Say NO to Babies in Baskets!

When I first started photographing newborns, I thought I needed to do it just like everyone else… so I invested in some baskets and a couple blankets and lugged all my goods around town. These sessions took forever. Like four hours long by the time you factor in feedings, diaper changes, posing and naked baby pee and poo accidents (which of course always happen the second you get them into that perfect pose!).

I’ll be honest… I didn’t like newborn sessions, at all. I loved capturing moms and dads and kiddos interacting with their new addition but all the posing and props just felt like a huge hassle especially because it didn’t feel authentic. Don’t get me wrong… I can really appreciate the beauty of these sessions and I certainly know first hand that there’s an art to them. But it just wasn’t me.

Then I had my own son and it changed my perspective completely. I was now a mom and I certainly didn’t want to put MY baby in a basket! I figured I couldn’t be the only one, so I made the decision to switch to lifestyle newborn photography. And guess what? I now love — LOVE! — shooting these sessions. I want them to be painless for you as the parents, because hello, you have a new baby and who has time for a four-hour session!? And when you look back at your images, I hope you see the warmth, love and budding connection being built within your new family.

To make things extra easy and comfortable, I shoot in your home. We’ll find the best light and keep it to about two or three locations (so no pressure to clean the whole house!).

It’s easy to add a maternity sessions on to any newborn session! We’ll spend an hour together capturing you and your family just as you are before your big addition.

About two weeks after our session together, we’ll schedule the big image reveal (again in the comfort of your home). This is where I’ll show you all of your beautiful images and you’ll get a chance to order your beautiful matted prints, frames, albums and other products.

Prints, albums + digital collections

I truly believe photographs are meant to be printed. How else will we hand them down to our children someday? Will DVD drives and USB ports even be around in 30 years? This is why I insist families take home beautiful, heirloom-quality products. You've already chosen to invest in your session, so why not wake up every day and enjoy your images, either on your walls or collected in a beautiful album for the coffee table! Most families chose to invest at least an additional $500-1500 in products for their homes. Shoot me a message for my full pricing guide.

I partner with a professional lab whose printers actually expose their paper to light in order to develop your images. The finish I love is called "deep matte" and it has an awesome feel and depth. All prints are matted up to the next standard size with museum quality mats.

Prices start at $45.

You’re going to have so many favorite images from your session that you'll likely find an album is a must for telling your story.

These beauties lay flat when they're open. They're customizable as far as size, cover materials and number of pages go.

Prices start at $650.

Digital Files

While I'm a huge advocate for printing photographs, I understand that we live in an increasingly digital word. You will receive the high resolution file of every image ordered as a print, in frame or as part of an album. I also offer digital collections with all of the full resolution images from your session. Pricing depends on the length of your session.
