Every family has a story

Let me tell yours!

V

Hi, I’m Amanda.

And I'll be the one behind the camera!

I quit my job as a journalist after nearly a decade to throw myself completely into new mommyhood and my photography work. My images and articles have been published in national magazines and news outlets across the country.

Now I focus on telling the stories of real families through photojournalism and lifestyle photography. Sometimes (okay, more like all of the times) I let our dog handle the mopping after dinner so I can have more time for tickle fights before bed.

You'll get a chance to read more about my story later!

First, let me tell you a little bit about how it all works:

1. Send me a message

You'll see a link to my portfolio at the bottom of this page. Once you check that out (and decide that we're a good fit!), shoot me a message via the yellow "book now" button. Tell me a little bit about your family and what kind of session interests you. A documentary session will be completely unscripted while a lifestyle session (newborns and usually maternity) will have a plan and more direction by me.

2. Let’s chat + pick a date!

I'm a little old school and like talking to folks on the phone, so I'll give you a call as soon as I can so we can chat more. From there, we'll pick a day and time for your session.

This is usually a half day for families (morning or afternoon). Newborn sessions are between 90 minutes and two hours. Maternity add-ons are one hour, unless you want to capture your family just as it is before the new arrival. In that case, I'd recommend a half-day documentary session!

3. PAY YOUR SESSION FEE

Your session fee is a non-refundable deposit, which secures your spot on my schedule. I'll invoice you and shoot you a contract and model release (if you're okay with me sharing your images on my site!).

4. TELL ME YOUR LOCATION

Our session will take place at your home -- unless, of course, you decide otherwise! Some moms-to-be like to pick an outdoor location for their maternity session so they don't have to deal with cleaning while they're super pregnant -- I totally get that.

Before our session, I'll send you some tips for getting ready, including what to wear and how much you really need to clean before I get there.

5. SCHEDULE THE BIG REVEAL!

It will take me about two weeks to edit your session and get things ready for our next meeting: the big image reveal! We'll also do this one at your home. I love watching everyone's faces as they see their images for the first time!

This is the perfect opportunity to get hands-on with the products in my collection. We'll sort out your favorite images and figure out exactly what you want to do with them. Most families decide on an album and have a few of their absolute favorites printed and matted as fine art for their walls. I can actually help you design the layout of your images right there during our reveal! I'll see you again a couple of weeks later, when I deliver your goodies.
